Engineers

Only applicants that possess a Bachelor's/Master's degree in geological, environmental, civil or related engineering fields will be considered. Applicants that have successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam are preferred.

Environmental Scientists

Performs professional level environmental and physical science work that requires the application of basic scientific principles, practices, and techniques following established procedures and standards.

Agronomists

agronomy is broad training in the plant and soil sciences and in crop production technology. A good knowledge base in crops, fertilizer, pesticide use, seeds, soils, weeds, entomology, plant pathology, breeding and genetics, precision agriculture, natural resource management, and the interaction of production systems.

Policy and Communications

Policy and communications staff are part of the Public Affairs team and work on agriculture, environmental, and natural resources public affairs, policy, and communication issues. General duties include media relations, social media management, website development, legislative activities, policy development, grant management, and event planning.

Foresters

Implements, coordinates, and administers forestry activities and programs with individual landowners, city or county governments or agencies, and conservation districts; provides technical assistance; writes forestry resource management plans; and provides educational information to ensure effective conservation practices related to trees and forests and the protection of the state's resources.

Maintenance

This position maintains, repairs, and restores all aspects of the facilities within the South Dakota State Fairgrounds. This position's work could entail aspects of building construction, remodeling of current facilities, including constructing interior walls, installing sheetrock, taping, texturing and painting walls and buildings, and operation of various equipment.
