The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) administers the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP) in South Dakota. The program enhances the competitiveness of specialty crops (fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops including floriculture).

Grant funds may be used to increase consumption, expand markets, improve food safety, pest/disease control, environmental sustainability, seed variety development, and research.

Eligible applicants include state/local/tribal governments, nonprofits, research institutions, universities, for-profit businesses, and individual producers.
